Masumi Hakashima of the Seven attempts to open an Umbral portal on the Mir space station to retrieve the exiled spirit of Nergal the Death God. He fails through the efforts of The Parallax Club, aboard the Freedom space station, and Mir is destroyed.
The Inquisition, manipulated by Alain Buvain, kill Selina the tigerewere.

Louise discovers that Smedley is spying on her. As a peace offering he obtains from his 'other' employer the Second Prophecy of Joseph the Lesser, which purports to describe another Gathering of the Iron-Willed.
In search of the Sargon Fragment, another lost section of the Book of Nod, Louise and The Parallax Club find an ancient monastery in the Italian Alps. The monks are diabolists and their master is the legendary Black Abbot; the Club intervene and John Henry kills the Abbot.
Investigating the Eidolons, the 'reality anchors' that hold the universe together, the Parallax Club find the resting place of the Ark of the Covenant. It vanishes, but not before utterly destroying another who was after its secrets, the recently-awoken Methuselah Annis.

More cities are depopulated of Kindred, including Rio de Janeiro, Prague and even Edinburgh. Princes across the world crack down even harder to distract their subjects. The Kindred get very jittery, and all over the globe the Masquerade is stretched almost to breaking point.
With reports of spectral activity on the increase, the Parallax Club travel to The Shadowlands. They discover that the Hierarchy has been corrupted and someone is building an Army of the Restless Dead. Digging further, they find the Black Taminou, aided by the shade of the Black Abbot, has been able to corrupt Charon himself.
Attempting to complete a scheme over a millennium in the making, Mithras of the Nictuku is incinerated in a Romanian nuclear power plant. However, prior to his True Death he sets off an earthquake that floods the Danube and devastates Bucharest, killing thousands.

Investigating a theft from the British Museum, the Parallax Club tangle with the Bahari, the female-only infernalist cult also known as the Lamiae. The cultists are dedicated to the worship of Lilith the Demon Queen (aka Hecate, Ishtar, etc.). During their investigations, the Club discover the true identity of Helga (see the page on Professor Liebling).
The Club discover that an insane telepath, who wishes to kill all others who share his powers, has mistaken another girl for Penny. Specifically, the girl the Bahari had kidnapped as their Oracle in the previous scenario. The Club defeat the maniac, and Louise takes the now-orphaned seer, Arika Patros, under her protection.
