Professor Liebling
A tiny old man, barely four feet tall, Professor Liebling's short stature conceals a lust for power matched only by his towering intellect. Indeed, some have postulated that if it were not for his paranoia and bursts of extreme psychotic mania he would have been the greatest sorceror of the modern age. Instead, the white-bearded Professor is a monster as vile as any demon. He has blended his mastery of the Left Hand Path with his exceptional command of science to create an entirely new occult art - technomagic. By using devices of cutting-edge technology to power his spells and incantations he has been able to get around the restrictions on magic caused by the reality paradigm imposed by the Technocracy (see Magic). He is thus able to create sorcerous effects of a potency unseen for centuries, but uses them exclusively to destroy his enemies and increase his personal power. Liebling is possibly the most obviously insane of the Seven. His heavily accented speech is chillingly calm one minute but a slavering burst of screams and profanity the next, while his plots vary from the breathtakingly Byzantine to the ridiculously petty. He has let slip in the past that he was born in Bremen, and his reminiscences have led the Club to believe that he is several centuries old. Even in these modern times, when magic is far less potent than in ages past, it is not unusual for such powerful sorcerors to have greatly extended lifespans. He commonly wears a black robe marked with sigils that proclaim his rank in the sorcerous arts, the nine circles and five squares of the Ipsissimus, and is often found seated upon a floating throne that contains the controls for his technomagical foci. A great many of his spells involve the creation of bubbles or spheres, either of magical force or materials imbued with occult energies. He seems to have a particular affinity for that shape. His assistant is Helga, a slender Teutonic woman with carefully styled black hair and ice-blue eyes. She is extraordinarily beautiful, but it is a cold beauty bereft of any human warmth. Her looks hide the soul of a sadist and the cunning of a predator. When found in one of the Professor's laboratories her attire of choice is a fetishist's dream - a black PVC lab coat, matching stiletto boots and nothing else. Outside the lab she favours similarly revealing clothes, always in black. Helga is herself an adept of the Black Arts, and from the Club's observations holds at least the rank of Adept. She uses the technomagic developed by Liebling to increase her power, and on occasion has displayed a command of sorcery equal to that of beings centuries old. It is noteworthy that although Helga will certainly use her feminine wiles to entice men, she has a great distaste for any man touching her without her express permission. Those who try usually regret it for what remains of their life. There is a body of evidence that this phobia is the result of something done by Helga's father sometime in her past. Another unusual thing about Helga is the way she seems able to grow leathery bat wings and vestigial horns whenever the situation demands. Recently, it was revealed that Helga is in fact the daughter of Doctor Johannes Von Faustus and Lilith the Demon Queen. She is the Chosen of Lilitu, a much-prophesied figure among the Bahari cultists (see Helga Prophecy 1). However, the cultists' Oracle, a kidnapped young girl named Arika Patros, revealed to the Club a new prophecy that suggests the ascension of the Chosen is not necessarily that good for the Bahari. Or, for that matter, anyone else... (see Helga Prophecy 2).
