While investigating a series of mysterious deaths in Rio de Janeiro, including several among the city's Kindred, Jake and Laos discover the city is apparently home to a lycanthrope of a type long believed extinct.  Her name is Isobel y Rafello de Campeza, and she claims to be the last of the Ananasi, the werespiders, and bearer of the Great Spirit Arachne.  If what she says is true, it could herald the beginning of another War of Rage.

John Henry and Louise discover the existence of a shadowy, transnational intelligence organisation with links in the highest levels of government across the earth.  It is a legend within the black ops community, a faceless group known only as Section Twelve.  Investigating further, the Parallax Club find out that Section Twelve is apparently involved with the global conspiracy called the Genocide Failsafe.
