The Traveller

This enigmatic individual has aided the Parallax Club on several occasions, yet there can be little doubt that his true motives remain as mysterious as his real identity.  His usual appearance is that of a nondescript, scholarly man of middle years, yet he displays a knowledge of technology that dwarfs even that of Mercury.  His speciality is what the Technocracy refer to as dimensional physics, the science of the Umbra and its many Realms.

The Traveller journeys through the universe in a vehicle that can disappear from and rematerialise into any point in time and space.  Its interior is significantly larger than the outside, and it alters its appearance to fit in seamlessly wherever it appears.  He normally keeps a number of sophisticated gadgets on his person, and undoubtedly has access to many more as the need arises.  Like Mercury, he disapproves of gratuitous meddling with the dimensional continuum (aside from his own, obviously) and endeavours to repair any anomalies that he finds.

Mercury knows him of old, and the two have a relationship based on mutual tolerance and looking the other way when one bends the rules a little too far.  However, neither has ever clarified exactly when, how and why they met.  They probably never will.

In addition, the Traveller and John Henry know each other extremely well.  The Traveller often travels in company with an assistant, and although neither party have ever confirmed or denied it there is a strong body of evidence that in the past John Henry was one such sidekick.  This might explain John Henry's extremely unusual and poorly concealed knowledge of the intricacies of dimensional science.  The Traveller is also one of the very few who know the secrets behind John Henry's unusually long lifespan.

Following The Sundering the Club have encountered the Traveller only once.  He reported that even his own access to the Shadow and Reflection Realms had been blocked, but no doubt he is attempting to rectify this unfortunate situation.
