The Old Man

When Sir Agravaine of Orkney was awoken from his sleep of ages beneath Glastonbury Tor, it was by this crotchety individual.  Tall, lanky and white-bearded, he is commonly found in a ill-fitting suit and with an attitude to life that can best be described as Victor Meldrew on a bad day.

However, behind the perpetually grumbling exterior lurks a mind honed by centuries of experience and the greatest magus since Solomon the Wise.  Born of a nun and a demon, he was once advisor to one of the most noble kings of antiquity.  He was a True Mage, master of the Nine Spheres of which all creation is built (see Magic), and it was said that his power made the gods themselves tremble in fear.

When True Magic faded from the world he took up the study of sorcery, and soon he became a master of incantation and ritual.  He holds the rank of Ipsissimus on the Right Hand Path, making him as powerful a sorceror as anyone on Earth.  He dislikes having to use his powers, preferring to guide others into solving their own problems, but when pushed too far he can respond instantly and with terrifying force.

Over the years he has helped out the Club on several occasions, and chose Agravaine to awaken prior to his comrades in return for some favour carried out prior to the knight's long sleep.  In return he has entrusted Agravaine with the noble task of preparing Albion for the return of the King.

When last seen he was in Australia studying the dream-magics of the Aborigines.  He has let slip that he is involved in some great project that has lasted for centuries, but details remain vague.  All that is known is that he is wandering the world looking for something.

Or someone.
